UI or User Interface deals with anything and everything that a user may interact with while using a digital service or product. Thus, UI Design includes different aspects of digital products such as screens, keyboards, lights and sound. Thus, UI encompasses the appearance of the device used by an end user

On the other hand, UX or User Experience Design was developed as a result to have some improvements to UI. UX deals with aspects related to a user’s interaction with an application (app), product or operating system. Thus, UX Design typically deals with defining how a product operates and how it meets the needs of a user.  

As a UX designer one explores and incorporates different approaches so as to solve a specific user problem. As a UX designer the primary responsibility that one needs to shoulder is to ensure that while using a product the user can easily move from one step to the next.

A  UI designer is concerned with how a product is laid out. In such a job profile one is responsible for designing each screen/ page that a user interacts with. Thus, a UI designer is tasked with the responsibility of creating a style guide and thereafter ensuring that a consistent design language is applied across the entire product. A UI designer needs to ensure that there is consistency in visual elements of the product being used by end users. 

Increased focus on security

According to IdentifyForce, 2017 was the worst year so far for web security breaches. This has made consumers more concerned with the security precautions taken by the web services they use. Because of this, we’ll see even more lock icons, verified badges and other security reinforcing copy / iconography which aims to evoke a sense of safety and security in users.
